Oh no,the FTi.............

d*ve. said: I went to a demo day and the TM rep didn't turn up,so I couldn't continue my Burner review. But no one makes any bad clubs anymore do they? They are all good, get the right shaft and you will like some heads, dislike others, just a personal thing. But wait, there may be no bad clubs but there are definately some great clubs. The FTi stands for everything I hate in modern club design, being a player who started with MacGregor persimmon, the sexiest clubs ever made. They didn't have any branded shafts, just the stock Fuji 686,a 68g shaft medium tip.I used the 9.5 which apparently is neutral weighting and 1/2 degree open.I also tried the 9 which is draw biased and awful for me,juts couldn't control the draw. Anyway, straight away my pre-shot routine changed by itself.Pick a spot, waggle to get the line then square the feet, but almost immediately you use the parallel lines of the head, top and bottom, to line up and you just feel so square, your confidence goes up and you just wanna pull the trigger.Long, high and deadly straight.I just stopped walking away from the ball and just started crunching them with no routine. Its a remarkable club to line up. Feel off the face is fine, the shaft was average,to soft for me but unlike the TM stock shaft this didn't seem to matter. Its a superb club and seems less shaft fussy than the TMs. I was frankly amazed.Didn't have any launch gear,so couldn't get stats, but the Geek afterwards felt boring.Still long and straight and the shaft is more stable, but I was almost annoyed at having my old routine coming back and longing for the confidence boost behind the ball the FTi gives you.Its almost drug like. I want one ps hit the Sumo back to back and its still the biggest bag of dogs testicles I have ever hit.

On a solid strike - i get 270-295 out of her. Dave - what's your swing speed? I only ask - because, i think that shaft is pretty stout. I'm around 100-105 i think.

The MOI helps a little for sure, but for many people they are finally pointing in the right direction which helps immensly. Try the Integra Quad if you want a low cost version of the FT-i. I have hit both and found the quad to be the better of the 2. IMO the quad is still the best square head on the market.

While the biggest part of this review is well known, I will praise you for bringing up a subject in which I am a huge believer in. I've highlighted it here. Well put. R35

I liked the shaft don't get me wrong.I like all the stock shafts in Callaways and dislike all those in TM,no idea why.I could live quite happily with the 686 but it did feel a little soft and I reckon on a monitor the spin and launch will be a little high.Dunno, but its not a bad shaft at all. Lyle I will have a look for a UK distributor for the Integras I thinks its the tip,the head seemed to come through quote soft for me
