Cost of building??

D*wey_1011 said: Called the local clubmaker to day and told him I had the heads, shafts, and ferrules coming early next week he told me 50$ with me putting the grips on. Does that sound pretty reasonable?? I didn't think it was to bad but this is the first time I have had a full set built.

R*ckinMA said: it depends on the level of effort - if he's just cutting the shafts and gluing them together it seems fair. If you're looking to have the shafts spined and frequency matched or the clubs MOI matched, his time to do this is probably worth more than $50. I'm going to be reshafting my clubs over the next few days and I figure I'll be spending hours in the basement.

D*wey_1011 said: No he doesn't do any of that I don't think. I am just waiting on my TLT specs from Lyle and he is going to put them together with those specs.

R35 Good morning, Rock, I think he meant $50 to get the clubs cut and built and the he would do the gripping himself.

Is that to pull and intall a different shaft? Either way it's rediculous. $50 seems like a fair price for building the clubs, dewey.

D*wey_1011 said: I thought 50$ was pretty reasonable too. I went to the same guy the other day and he pulled the vs proto and put in the v2 for only 10$ I thought that was cheap.

D*wey_1011 said: It's funny the guy me and all my buddies use is a total hack. He has been around golf his whole life daddy is rich and owns a golf course so they opened up a seperate pro shop and driving range and par 3 course for him. We all like hanging out with him and everything but he goes and plays with us sometimes and we really give it to him. I think the best I have seen him shoot is like 107 and he owns a driving range but just hates the game of golf, just likes to go out and drink some cold ones with us and beat it around.

If everything is prepped, why wouldn't you do it yourself? pulling a steel shaft is not that difficult, pulling a graphite is also not too difficult especially you're not saveing the old shaft ( probably worth next to nothing ).

R*lease said: If you're talking about a set of clubs to be pulled and installed, $50 is peanuts. Pulling just one club and preparation is done ( spined aligned ) on the new shaft, It's bit steep for $50, my local guy here will do it for $15 + grip.
