Built my 1st club
mdd*bya said: Well, OK, I've finished my 1st attempt at building my own club. A Maltby KE4 3 wood with a BB Solutions 130 Stiff. But my question is, how long does it have to set up before I can use it? I used GolfWorks Double Bubble Epoxy, but it doesn't say anything on the package about set time? Has anyone used this before that can tell me how long afterwards before it's safe to hit some balls with it? It's been about 16 hours so far.

mdd*bya said: Thanks Chem, I am playing in another tournament tomorrow, I know, I'm just a glutton for punishment, ;) , and I was kinda wanting to get the feel for it, see if I wanted to take it with me or stick with my HiBore 3 wood for now.
*altim said: Congrats on your first club build, it looks great. :) As far as set time goes, if it does not specify the set time on the product, I would wait 24 hours to be safe.
R*lease said: Yes, 24 hours seems to be the waiting time if not specified on the packaging. If you keep it inside the house for a warmer and drier environment, over night should be fine. BTW, looks great on you new 3 wood, I'm sure it's a keeper.

She's a beauty. :) Thanks Silver, that's why I went with it, everything I've heard about the KE4 has been great, and I've heard so many raving on about this shaft, I figured I'd put the 2 together and give it a go. It really shouldn't be hard to knock the HiBore 3 wood out of the bag, the 5 wood got kicked out to make room for the 3 iron again. I've also got KE4 heads in H15 and H21 for hybrids, but the shafts I ordered for them haven't arrived yet. I'll give a full review once I get a chance to hit them, hopefully I won't be making the dreaded "Walk of Shame", :ugly25:

mdd*bya said: Well, the head DID NOT come off. I hit probably 15 balls with it on the practice tee and was crushing them around 225 - 250. Very solid feel to the KE4 head, a little on the heavy side, I may try a lighter weight in it? I used it off the tee twice in my round, one of them was a thing of beauty, right down the middle of the fairway with a little trailing off fade at the end around a dog leg right, just the shot I'd drawn up in my head. The 2nd one I skied it about 200 yards up, but only 100 out, at least I didn't put a sky mark on it. I tried it once off the deck in the short rough and took way to much of a divot but me and 3 woods seldom get along off the deck. Hopefully with some practice I'll figure out how to hit it off the deck. But all in all, I love the club, and thank goodness, no Walk of Shame was involved today, :biglol:

w*rbirdlover said: Hey, that looks familiar!!! Sure you didn't steal mine while I wasn't looking? Actually, I've got the silver shaft. That BB shaft seems to work pretty nice in a 3-wood and mine doesn't feel too light either. :D
mdd*bya said: I've got the silver shaft in my CT250 9.5º driver. When my shafts for my hybrids arrive my bag will look like a rainbow with all the different shafts in it, I've got Graman Limey 580's in stiff flex coming to build my hybrids with.
