Oops....the accidental ho.

*altim said: Have you ever throw in a bid on a club on eBay KNOWING that you were not going to win it at that price just for the hell of it? Well, I did that the other day and accidently won.:unhappy: I have been toying around with trying out the HiBore XL Tour head for almost a year now, but could never find one at a price I liked. I tried to get Rock's after he wrote his review, but one of you vultures snapped it up before it was even put in the classified section. :D Well, I now have a HiBore XL Tour 8.5* with the stock Fuji Gold shaft being shipped from California NIP for $96 USD. I have been watching the bay for several months now on and off and the going rate for NIPs have been in the $125 to $150 range and figured I was safe bidding out below $100. Oops. I will give it a go with the Fuji, but will probably end up pulling it for another shaft. I may end up with another Aerotech Steelfiber SS75 as I love the one in my 4W and love the price. Its probably not going to kick anything out of the bag, or even the back up bag, but who knows? Accidental Ho, again.

I'm thinking more like the F speed LD 10.5° with a regular flex NV.

I have considered picking one of these up but just know that the open face would be a killer for me, that and my R5 TP is just a beast.

Cl*gnut said: That's funny, Tim. I just did this about 3 days ago. I was watching an Idea Pro that was hit maybe ten times. It had the pics to prove it. The seller did everything right. It was listed correctly, he was honest, and the description and pics were very clear. I threw a $75 dollar bid on it, knowing I wouldn't get it, and went to bed. Woke up the next morning, and checked it. Danged if I didn't get it. Now I need to explain to SWMBO how I can afford it! I listed 5 things last Sunday, so I hope to cover it by a good amount.

I am kind of intrigued by the thought of eliminating one side for errors and want to see how well it plays. Could be a disaster in the making or the best thing since sliced bread. :D Quote: Originally Posted by Clugnut That's funny, Tim. I just did this about 3 days ago. Yes, I have tried to think of a way of explaining this one. "I did not try to win it, it just happened." :D

R35 I find that most stock Fuji's aren't worth the effort. Maybe I'll throw in an NV. :D I am still kind of shocked I got it at that price, but since the shaft was most likely going to be pulled I was not going to go over $100 for just the head.

S*berianDVM said: I just bought a Cobra Pro S 10.5° with Fuji Speeder in stiff. :) I'm such an optomist. :D And wouldn't you know it....I was hitting my 905R great today in my round. But I can always use another 10 yards.

*zra76 said: I've certainly done this before. As to the XL tour, I couldn't hit the thing. 9.5* was only getting 2200-2400 rpms. of spin, dropping like a rock. When I demoed an 8.5* I was only getting 1700-1800 rpms. of spin.

I haven't hit anything left with mine since I put it in the bag. Nothing but straight, or sweet power fade. It's like it just won't go left. Maybe it's the Proforce V2 shaft. Anyway, good luck with your ho. If you don't like it, I'm sure some vulture here will offer you $10 for it...http://www.shottalk.com/forum/images/icons/icon12.gif

Like I said, I was not planning on winning this auction, it just sort of happened. :D Even with the Renegade, I still find my self a bit inconsistant from draw to fade. Sometimes I draw it, sometimes I fade it. Its straighter than any driver I have played, but I can still get some movement out of it. In the grand scheme of things, it will probably get relegated to the pile of clubs I have sitting in my office or garage. Of course, I never thought I could hit a driver better than the TEE, until I met the Geek, and then the Geek until I met the Renegade. I will find out soon enough.

I really, really like it so far...

How does it feel compared to the Srixons? Me like. I would describe it as a touch softer, but very similar. Even better (more intuitive) distance control from 20-40 yards. Excellent balance, if a tad more head-heavy. The 54/10 seems to have about the same full-swing trajectory and distance as the 52/08 Srixon. Odd, as I expected it to be significantly less.

I like a lot of the new MacGreggor line up. If I can get out to the range again this week I am hoping to wrap up a demo review of the wedges and the MT Pro CB's this week. I have never hit a 54* wedge before so I am kind of looking forward to seeing how it works. 56* never seems to work well for me, but that probably due to the hefty bounce most 56* wedges have.
