I got most of them bent and here's what they're at now. 5iron - 25* 6iron - 28.5* 7iron - 33* 8rion - 37* 9rion - 41* PW - 45.5* GW - 50* SW - 55* The GW, 9i, and 8i were not bent, stayed the same. I had the 7 taken down just a little becuase I hit it pretty long over the 8 already. I took them to the range and hitting them well. I used a flag at 125 that was diagnonal to me for the PW-7iron. Then took aim at the yellow, which is around 180 for the 5-7 and the hybrid. 5 and 6 are going considerably longer. I feel I've effectively gotten my gaps a lot better. The 5 is now a lot closer to the hybrid and the PW far enough away from the GW to make a difference. Next I'll probably drop the 58* for a 60*, giving me 5* of seperation with the wedges. It was interesting to note my 8-PW were already stronger than Miura's listed lofts, 7-5 were weaker. The 5iron was a whole 1.5* weak, no wonder it was really close to my 6. Now I'll have a true 200yd. 5iron. That's not what it's about though, it's about hitting a full 5 or a full hybrid and having 14yds. between them, not 22.

P* Jayhawk said: Interesting, when I bought my new set I thought for a short time about having everything bent from a 3 degree differential to 4 degrees to allow for another club in my bag. Still may think about it next year, as I am not sure I care if I have a 10 yard difference or 12-13 yard difference in my club selection. Probably would have left me with an 8i with a normal loft and no 6i to meet the gap from 7 to 5. Now I am not sure I would want to bend them that far towards the longer irons. Then again, that would have been to make room for my 3w, and I am now convinced my 3w may never find a spot in my bag ever again.

*zra76 said: Yeah, that's the guy. He's got a nice set of Titleist tour model blades I'm thinking of getting off him. It's missing the 7i but has a 2. They look like fun to mess around with. :)
tw*fast2s said: when i got mine checked out at NC, all my irons were either 1 or 2* stronger and 2-3* more upright. it's because of hitting down on the mat, and over time it makes it stronger/upright. so it's good to have them checked at least once a year.
Lyl*G said: I recently did a set for a guy and found the his 5-6-7-8 were all within 6* of each other. HE laughed when I showed him saying he always blamed his swing for his similar distances.

I hit a 7 iron long on one that was 197.. its like a rock out there, everything is buzzed for re seeding next week... so it landed just shot and went over in the dam water... I was mad.. I had a 76 going and went double, Bogey, Bogey, par... 80..
*zra76 said: It is my 6, lol. 206yd. par 3, one yard short on the front fringe, 6iron. To be fair I hit a low trajctory draw and it actually landed 10 yds. short of that. It's going to take some getting used to. I went long on 2 approach shots today. Around 175-180 long with the 6 and I thought I was at 200 out of the rough and went over with a 5. They are definitely longer now. My PW is a monster now too. Got to pin high from 130 on a par 3 slightly uphill. That's cool because last time I hit a 3/4 9iron. Both my PW and GW would have been short. My GW was only 3-4 yds. off my PW before it seemed. I feel I've got a better transition club to club now. Not as many grey areas. Anyone know a general # for distance +/- per degree of loft?

Your lofts are really strong compared to my circa 1994 irons.:laugh:Your PW is stronger than my 9 and your 5 is stronger than my 4. I play with friends who are completely mesmerized by how far they can hit their irons and every year one of them buys new irons and hits the ball even further. I normally check the lofts and inform him that they are 3* stronger than the ones he hit last year.:laugh:One guy swings out of his shoes to hit a 190 yd par 3 with his 7 iron. He can sometimes get it pin hi, but normally in a terrible position. The same guy laughs when I say I am hitting a 4. When I hit the green he stops laughing. For me at least, irons are for accurate distance and not maximum distance. I don't care if the next guy can hit his 7 iron 200 yards, I will hit what I need to hit, if it's a 4 or 3, no prob. And normally a controlled swing produces better results for me. I am so used to my distances with these irons, I don't think I will replace them anytime soon. My gaps are really good and I have a ton of confidence with them.
*zra76 said: Well, the whole thing started when I realized after several failed attempts, finding a CB-201 4iron was just not going to happen. Then I got the 50* wedge, loved the trajectory and racked up a dozen or so (probably more, lol, I miss a lot of greens) chip in's with it this year. I also picked up the MidTP 21* and like that club. My 5 was already fairly long but just a bit too much gap to the 21*. Quite frankly I'd rather work a shot to a shorter distance with an iron than the hybrid anyway. So the idea hit me. I had plenty of bounce in the irons, 9 and PW 8* bounce, so why not just deloft them and widen the gap on the PW end and tighten it up on the 5i end? I'm just busting on Twofast with the distances. It hurts his manhood, lol. I made him feel better on the 2nd time we played the little 130par 3. I had him pick my club to hit and I picked his. I made him hit 7 and he made me hit 5, lol. I cleared the pond with pretty much a 1/2 swing chip shot but it ran into the back bunker. That was fun. Although I got a little scared when it was running right at the stick. God forbid I'd have to register my hole in 1 as "129yds. with a 5iron". lol.

All my lofts are basically between what is standard for player CB's now. So my PW is like a 9 1/2 iron. It think it's pretty good now. I hit the PW and carried right around 130, dead stopped it. On the 1st hole I had about 112-113 in and hit my GW about 3/4 with the anti-spin shot. I nearly holed it, faded it in and it broke right and ran by from the left to right side of the hole. Must have missed by less than an inch from what I could gather when I got up there. Always nice to start off with a tap in bird though.
tw*fast2s said: you know ez, i won't say anything becaues last time i said your irons are strong and longer (shaft lengths wise) and i got a very typical answer from you. and i told you not to tell me what irons you're hitting. if you do that, 1 stroke penalty for you. and i'm not kidding... especially w/ the shaft length... hahaha
