The Geek is Here!!
w*rbirdlover said: My latest 'ho project. LyleG did a BEAUTIFUL job on this club. I did a lousy job taking pictures but here it is anyway in all it's glory. Already had a trip to the range planned for tommorrow with my neighbor so this is a huge plus. I'm excited now.. :D
w*rbirdlover said: Here's some more pics of my new toy... :D
*dam Pettman said: Well its about time  Your pics suck aswell but atleast you've got one hell of a club. That shaft is smooth as any shaft that I've tried. How much did this combo set you back?
g*atster said: looks good hope it hits as good as it looks.
w*rbirdlover said: Here's what the post office did to the box. Luckily Lyle packed it good. (See last page). Adam, PM Lyle for that. I don't know if he wants me to say what he charged. And since my daughter is using my good camera I had to use the teenie weenie one. :Dhttp://www.shottalk.com/forum/no-gol...tml#post132584
*dam Pettman said: I'll pm lyle later, I presume he must have given you a good deal. My god the US POST really does suck, over here the postmen have been known to take money from envelopes, thats why paul(manchestergolfer) got an envelope full of many layers of coloured paper with my money safely hidden in the middle. He also mistook Scottish money for Monopoly money :)
R*ckinMA said: looks good - congrats just go easy on the range - with a club that pretty you could hurt yourself overswinging...
S*ndpiper3 said: Hey WBL, honestly if that club isnt all you've hoped or the rapture outworks it, can I get first crack at it off you? I have heard great things about both the shaft and the head and would love to try it if it didnt getup to your expectations.
MGP said: I can't wait to hear how you hit it. :idhitit: If (when) I build a new driver, that head has already been identified as candidate #1. :D
w*rbirdlover said: Sandpiper, you're one on the list but I hit my Rapture like "crapture" today and I'm really hoping this helps. Of course it could never be my swing. :D
MCD*vis said: wbl, why did you go 10.5 on the Geek when the Rapture is 9?
w*rbirdlover said: I went to 10.5º on this on Lyle's recommendation. He said the head is very low spin and it should be the same launch angle as the 9º Rapture. He hand picked it and it's exactly 10.3º and perfectly square face. He also pured and spined the shaft and made it the D3 swingweight the Rapture is. I'll let you all know how it goes tommorrow at the range. I'm also going to have my neighbor (300+ bomber) hit it to see what he thinks. I suspect he'll put it out about 400!! Man he hits the driver long. :D
fl*marilius said: I dont know how you do it WBL. Its great that you can hit these style of clubs and I bet they are great clubs but if its not a major manufacturer I just cannot hit it. I get a case of the yips everytime I put a club in my hands and it doesnt belong to one of the big ones like Titty, nike, cleveland, cally, etc. Hope you hit it straight and long :)!
ch*mboy2 said: WBL, the Geek looks great. It looks like it was worth the wait! Lyle, you do very good work my friend.
sssm*kin said: I'll bet the box it came in didn't look like that when it reached the US border. My guess is that it went through Detroit, Chicago, or Milwaukee. Only they know how to put their "signature" on a box like that. Makes us all in the smaller offices proud to work for such a carring outfit. Nice work on the club, Lyle, and nice work on the packaging. :)
ch*mboy2 said: Hey WBL/Lyle, what did the VS Proto cpm at? Just curious as I had my VS Proto 60-R installed on Friday and it ended up coming in right as advertised (245).
d*ve. said: Lyle yhpm
w*rbirdlover said: VS Proto CPM'd at 250 (at 45-3/4") per Lyle. The Geek is now my "gamer". See review. And the Rapture is for sale. :D
d*ve. said: I've Pm'ed him for one,if he can do trans-Atlantic
w*rbirdlover said: Good choice. You can't go wrong with this thing and Lyle will make it exactly what you want; trajectory, swingweight, cpm, face closed, open, square etc. And he pures and spines the shaft so you get the best out of it. :)
S*ndy said: Hopefully Lyle will be able to get round to building all these Geek head in VS Proto shaft drivers for you all when he's caught up with the orders for the Integra Quadratics in Limey shafts everyone thought was the answer to their prayers two months ago! :D
sssm*kin said: Quote: warbirdlover posted: The Geek is now my "gamer". See review. And the Rapture is for sale. :D If someone wants a good deal, they'd better pm Warbirdlover. I hit that thing a mile. I'd buy it, but I have a few $ tied up already in my two drivers.:)
w*rbirdlover said: My neighbor hit it today too and was crushing it and hitting it alot straighter then his R7 460. It would be a great club for someone. :)
R*ckinMA said: great to see it met expectations - this is good stuff - congrats
*ndacup said: Great choice of driver combo! We were selling the same combos for $199...then due to a price increase at Aldila, $240 delivered...which I understand is not uncommon. The Geeks are great products...the new DCT fairways hit this week and the new FailSafe II's this upcomming week. I'm glad to see ya got the combo spined and flo'd...as the VS Proto has a very promonate spine and must be assembed accordingly. This is the stuff not done when you buy the Titties, Calloways etc off the rack.
VtD*vot said: WBL - is the Geek as deep faced as it looks in the pics? I prefer a shallower more traditional profile (aka Titleist and Cally compared to TM for example)
w*rbirdlover said: Vt, It's almost exactly the same shape (deep) face as the 905R that I've looked at many times. It's not "that" deep. Might look deeper because it's not as "wide" as the 905R. :)

w*rbirdlover said: That's what I think anyway. Wish Lyle were here to give another opinion. :)
d*ve. said: Lyle must be away for a few days
*ndacup said: Quote: Originally Posted by VtDivot WBL - is the Geek as deep faced as it looks in the pics? I prefer a shallower more traditional profile (aka Titleist and Cally compared to TM for example) It IS a deeper face as opposed to elongated.....the new Geek Failsfe II comes out thisd week and will have more of the traditional look...and according to The Head Geek himself, will offer more of the low spin charactoristics of the DCT as opposed to the "All Carry" of the FailSafe I
w*rbirdlover said: He'll be along in a day or so. Always does. :)
s*ndwedge said: I thought this was going to be a thread about Razor.
Spl*oGe said: Quote: Originally Posted by sandwedge I thought this was going to be a thread about Razor. Quotes like that may cause loss of an arm if he ever makes it on here. You saw the "mustard" stain on his shirt from his last victim...err hot dog at the turn...:(
w*rbirdlover said: And Razor is about the farthest thing from a Geek there is!! :D
d*ve. said: Managed to blag an ex-dem from the UK at a very good price, with an Accuflex Ultraboom, just under 45",probably would have been hassley for Lyle anyway and I could have been stung for import tax.
w*rbirdlover said: Now put a VS Proto in it!! :D
d*ve. said: Ultraboom is far more colourful:)
w*rbirdlover said: I just read up on it. Supposedly a good shaft. Let us know how it works. :)
Lyl*G said: WBL, I am glad you like it. That shaft is killer. I have gone back to it as well, as my little driver bubble has finally burst. I have gone back to what works. A vs proto with GEEK head (weight added) and a playing length of 43.3 inches. Dave, that ultraboom is one hell of a nice shaft. It is a good all purpose shaft, good for most anyone.
