Iron set - Need opinion

There are some great deals on hybrids out there as well. I bought my adams os#2, new for $49. You could also consider PING G5's, they are selling for $499 new, for 8 irons. You simply cannot go wrong with PING, they hold their value better than any other iron and you can play them forever even as your hdcp improves into the single digits. Good luck

shw_1979 said: Yup, I have mizuno finalist as my current set (my first set also). So if I bought half set, I might still bring the other half set of mizuno so that I can still use them if necessary. But frankly, the main reason of why I want a new set is I don't like the feel of this mizuno, the balance, the weight, the flex of the shaft etc, those 3 that I listed is much more suitable for me. But a club is still a club, and I can still use my current to get decent distance as I'm used to them already.

Lie, length, flex, grip size. That's all you really need as a beginner. Then call up a store like Golfsmith or Golfworks, speak with their personnel about what model of iron will fit your needs best. Then have them customise a set for you with your fitting specs, for less than the OEM sticks.

Their reason is actually beginner due to unconsistent swing, there will be no different whether you use 6.7 or 5,6 or etc. if you skip 1 like 5,7 than you will get the difference. could you tell me more why it is better to get 6,7,8,9,and 24 hybrid (suppose to this is 5i replacement). Is it because for beginner, the focussing on improving the short game will make imrpove the score better? and after I progress to be better, than improving the long game would be next task? In that case, is it would be better if I just stick using the hybrid for tee off even for 5 par course instead of using driver if I can hit my hybrid more consistend than my driver (in sacrifice of distance of course)?

There is simply no need to play a long iron as a beginner. You will not regret buying the 6,7,8, and 9 pus the hybrid. When you are say 160+ and need a longer iron, stun your mates and use your handicap, play the 6 short into saftey, chip and couple of putts = bogey = handicap coming down. From say 180 just sweep away a little hybrid anywhere near the green for same result, even a double bogey is fine. Forget long irons. Learn to sweep away a drive, chip consistently, putt well and stike consistently the irons. When far out, USE YOUR HANDICAP! Forget the flag, hit one of your irons into safety and chip and putt
