New irons arrived today

mdd*bya said: My Srixon i506 forged irons arrived today. I rushed down to the course and squeezed 9 holes in before it got dark. Oh wow, I have a real set of irons now. I can't believe how different they play than the HiBore irons I was playing with. At address the look like a blade with a thin topline, but they have enough of a cavity back to make them pretty forgiving. If you miss hit a ball you can certainly feel it and tell it, but it they still give you pretty good distance. But hit one on the sweet spot and OMG. It feels so great and the ball launches off the club face. They are a little bit short for me, but I'm getting them extended the 1st of next week and new mid sized Lamkin Crossline grips put on them. But now I now why everyone raves on and on about forged irons. I'll never on a set that isn't forged again after playing with these. Obviously you can tell I love them. Some things in the bag will most likely change, but not the irons for quite a while.

mdd*bya said: A few more pictures of them. Also my new wedges and putter.

mdd*bya said: I just noticed the date stamp, disregard that. I see the wife has been messing with the camera again,

sssm*kin said: Very nice. Good job ho'ing. :)

m*nt86 said: Nice clubs.

S*berianDVM said: Very nice looking sticks. :D

M*KE1218 said: Good ho. I506's are beautiful.

ch*mboy2 said: Those are some sweet looking irons! You mentioned that some other things in your bag are in jeopardy but, for the life of me, I can't figure out which other clubs you could be talking about. Your bag has come together quite nicely!

Thanks, I am very happy with my bag right now. But as you know, a ho's work is never done,. And I do have a Maltby CT250 with a V2 stiff in it, and a HiBore XL that is a bout to be sent off for a BB Solutions 130 stiff. And that new HiBore XLS tour in a 9.5* does look nice,

*racer said: Good stuff. I bought a set of the i506 irons a while ago. They are very nice, but couldn't kick my Armours out of the bag. Congrats on scoring a sweet set of irons. And those wedges are superb clubs - I love mine. I just noticed you didn't buy the 52-deg. gap wedge. You should, IMHO.

MCD*vis said: Nice bag, mdd..now it's time to start on your 2nd bag!!

St*nters said: Fabulous irons, nice pick up. What do you make of the Nippons? Have you used them before or are they also new to you? I have to agree that hitting a forged iron is the tops. It's tough to think of going back to cast once you have hit them.

d*ve. said: I like the look of the putter, which model is it?

St*nters said: Also if you have the budget and you are going to get them fitted how about a bit of TLT magic? Might be worth looking into - after all I would suppose that these will be in your bag for some time now. May as well get them done just right.

M*nchesterGolfer said: Great looking bag you have now. The irons look sweet and I like the Putter. Quote: Originally Posted by dave. I like the look of the putter, which model is it? The shafts actually helped me make up my mind to pull the trigger, I got the whole set of irons for about the cost of the shafts actually. Dave; The putter is the Fat Lady Swings designed by Bobby Grace for MacGregor, probably the greatest name ever for a putter, very true and a nice swing to it, now if I could just learn to read a green. I keep missing my putts by just rolling across the outer edge of the hole, :real angry: And no doubt on the forged versus cast, I can't imagine anyone who ever hits a forged iron ever wanting cast again. These are my 1st set of forged, but I'm definately a convert now!!!!!!

I'm getting them measured and fitted by my instructor Tuesday weather permitting, and yes, I'm going to ask about TLT'ing. But being 6'2", I need them over length and these are standard.

mdd*bya said: Played with the new irons again yesterday. Actually hit them pretty good. Probably one of my best rounds I've had of late with my irons. Can't wait to get them fitted though. To bad I couldn't hit my driver for squat. The adjustments to my swing to cure my slice have gone too far the opposite direction and led to a hook. But hey, my lousy drives gave me more oppertunities to hit the new irons. Man I love these things.
