New TM Drivers-Obviously

J*rmour said: I saw this on TGWTaylorMade 2008 New Clubs And the Imix from callaway. Just Arriving... Callaway Golf I-MIX Technology So if I want to try any of these Ill have to sell my entire set of clubs to afford them. Im looking forward to the future of golf equipment. Hopefully not all shaft companies will go the interchangable route.

Exactly. whats up with at TP And TP Tour, More crap from the geniuses at the Taylor Made Marketing Dept. To get the best use out of the Callaway setup your gonna have to shell out the cash for the whole setup. I dont think I wanna be playing around with driver setups, I just wanna get the damn thing in play down the middle.

W*ldCatGolfer17 said: I agree, but I do like the callaway idea, but chanrging $149 for the grafalloy pro launch red, when it is $49 at golf galaxy is ****ing lame. They put like a $5 dollar adapter on it and become millionaires. I like the concept, maybe when Nike does it in the next few months it wont be that bad price wise.

S*lverUberXeno said: All this focus on equipment, and so little on the swing... Back in the day (which was really only yesterday, maybe even today!) golfers made minor swing changes in order to change the trajectory of the ball. Some of them even carried more than one club, in order to be ready for a variety of situations.

M*nchesterGolfer said: I like the looks of the Cally I-mix & the shaft options are superb. Even better that you can fit them and swop them yourself, Great idea!!! :callaway:

*zra76 said: The Imix head was cheaper than I thought but the shafts are expensive. Hopefully they sell a ton of these so there are lots of them available used for next year. I am impressed with the shaft selection as well, despite the price. I'd like to try the 70g Whiteboard and the Accra SE 70.

B*gJim13 said: Wait a minute here. For the Callaway Imix deal, you buy the head and shaft separately? Totaling like $700? I thought TM was bad with their high priced TP line, but this is just a bit crazy...

*zra76 said: Actually, at full retail the IMix is looking pretty good compared to what the TM interchangable shaft head will be. Also, look at retail on the past TP's when they came out, they were 8-$900.

I waited until they came down into my range, which I might add took longer than I expected.

Do the same with the other shafts you bought. Keep the one you like and sell the others. Is this really that difficult a thing a do. Honestly, anyone paying the prices Cally wants for these things in nuts. Is simply not worth it. For the price of their set up you can get a good shaft puller, and all the stuff you need to do this and the shafts you want.

I've not found a shop within a 50mile radius that would pull the 686 out of the FTi and guaruntee they can save both the head and shaft, some of them won't touch it period.

Lyl*G said: Its really not that hard at all. Most guys are scared to try it is the problem. Wet rag, heat gun, short bursts of heat. Patience is the key, something many people dont have when pulling a head. I just ordered one of these to try out. Hireko Golf - Product Detail They have been getting excellent praise on a few other sites I frequent, and like most Hireko stuff they are cheap yet very high quality. My goal is to be able to make a high quality driver, brand new for less than $100., so $60 for the head, $29 for a Pure energy shaft, and a $2 sharpro grip = $91 before shipping. Thats awful hard to beat.

Thats awful hard to beat. I've been using Hireko for quite a while. You should try the Powerflex FW 501 shaft ( Hireko Golf - Product Detail ). It is really a great shaft and only 10.95. I think it is better than many of the OEM shafts you get in a lot of clubs. As for Taylormade. They are a bit quirky. The Superquad and Burner heads are as about as far as technology can get under the current rules. And that new driver is an eye sore. I did score a Rescue TP 23* yes 23* (bent to 24* though) this weekend from a Nationwide player. It fills in a distance I was looking for so now I can take my 4 iron out of the bag (I just don't like 4 irons and would rather put in a 3 iron (don't ask it is a mental thing)). I'm looking for a TP hDiamana to put in it now.
