Mallet suggestions?
Cl*gnut said: I'm looking for a center shafted mallet to use for my straight back, straight through stroke. Any suggestions? The heavier the better, and one that naturally stays straight would be great. Thinking Red X2, but open to anything. Thanks

I got a deal on a used 35/330 from Global Golf, but have since put in a 33 inch shaft, increased the head weight (piece of cake with the X2 head designed to be opened and weight adjusted), and put a 100g backweight in it. Love the feel of the GSS insert on the X2 as it feels very similar to the feel of my Studio Style Newport 2. Best feeling putters I have ever putted with. Heavy Putters are really good for keeping you online and they offer a center shafted mallet. The only downside with the HP is that it does not have the same feel of the GSS insert. If the HP had the same feel, I would have never needed another putter. Its that good. I may go back to it again if the Red X2 decides to go south on me.
M*nchesterGolfer said: Can't go far wrong with the Red x2 but if you want a softer face and to save a few bucks then look at an Odyssey as you can see they have lots of options;- XG #8, XG #7 (centre shaft is an option), XG #5 as well as most Rossie models, Various centre shaft 2 balls and some of the original White hot's as well, get on the Bay and have a browse.

Just didnt pan out for me that well, it got so bad in a tourney I actually left it with an official to keep from snapping it and putted with my driver:p But that's just me, ive never putted as well with mallet putters... It did feel really solid though.

It's not hard to bend the lie angle if it happens to go wacko on you. Interchangeable weights also make it possible to change the head weight by a very noticeable amount( as long as you get the 35 inch model!!!).
